10 Epic Waterfalls in Lombok & How to Reach Them

Lombok is often overshadowed by its popular neighbor, Bali, but when it comes to waterfalls, Lombok’s hidden gems give Bali a serious run for its money.

While Bali’s waterfalls are beautiful, they tend to draw in crowds of tourists. Lombok, on the other hand, offers a more untouched, off-the-beaten-path experience, with waterfalls like Tiu Kelep and some huge jungle wonders like Tiu Sekeper– that we think are even more epic!

Whether you’re chasing cascades through dense jungle or cooling off in crystal-clear plunge pools, this guide will introduce you to what we believe are the 10 most unforgettable waterfalls in Lombok.

Tip: On our Lombok Loop trip, we visit some of Lombok’s most epic waterfalls, but the real magic happens when we take you to secret spots not even on this list—places only a few travelers get to experience.

Tiu Kelep Waterfall

  • Location: Senaru, North Lombok
  • Entrance Fee: 10,000 IDR for entry, 5,000 IDR for parking
  • Facilities: Small warungs (local food stalls) and basic toilets at the entrance
  • Difficulty to Reach: Moderate; requires a 45-minute jungle hike with some light river crossings

Tiu Kelep is one of the most famous waterfalls in Lombok, and for good reason. Located in the lush jungle of Senaru (also the starting point for the Rinjani hike), this majestic cascade seems almost otherworldly as it crashes down into a misty amphitheater. This is Lombok’s poster boy, and visiting is one of the most iconic things to do on Lombok!

The journey to Tiu Kelep takes you through vibrant forest trails and over small streams, passing the scenic Sendang Gile Waterfall on the way. Once you arrive, the cool, yet shallow clear water offers the perfect spot to cool off.

If you’re feeling daring, you can swim right under the powerful fall but be careful as this one is seriously powerful! Note that the local community now requires everyone to hire a waterfall guide. This costs 150,000 per group.

Tip: We visit Tiu Kelep on the Lombok Loop (departing Senggigi every Thursday). However you can also book a day trip to Tiu Kelep with transport.

This two-tiered waterfall is easily accessible, making it perfect for travelers who want a beautiful spot without a strenuous hike. The water cascades down from the forest above, and though it’s not as tall as its neighbor, it offers a peaceful and seriously beautiful atmosphere.

The area surrounding the falls is lush with greenery, and the mist from the waterfall keeps the air cool, providing a refreshing break from the tropical heat. It’s an ideal spot for a quick visit before heading deeper into the jungle for more adventures.

  • Facilities: Warungs, restrooms, and local guides available

The journey to Benang Kelambu is slightly more challenging than its sister waterfall, Benang Stokel, but the reward is worth it. Once there, you’ll find a peaceful, secluded area perfect for relaxation and you can take a shower beneath the falls.

Mangku Sakti Falls

  • Location: North Lombok, near Sembalun
  • Entrance Fee: Free
  • Facilities: None – abandoned
  • Difficulty to Reach: Moderate; requires a bumpy ride and a short hike over rocky terrain

Mangku Sakti is one of Lombok’s hidden gems, known for its striking milky blue water caused by mineral deposits from the nearby Rinjani volcanic activity.

Located near the Sembalun trekking region, this waterfall is a bit more remote, requiring a rough off-road journey, but it’s worth every bump. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you’ll find the “entrance” is abandoned.

You then need to hike through the jungle and then out to the river, following it upstream and through a narrow canyon until you reach it. This area is limestone-rich with powerful rapids that offer a different vibe from the typical serene waterfalls of Lombok.

The journey to Tiu Teja is an adventure in itself, with a moderately challenging hike through dense jungle and forested paths. If you arrive in the early morning or late afternoon, the sun sometimes creates a beautiful rainbow in the mist—a hidden feature that gives this waterfall its name (Teja means “rainbow” in Sasak).

Tiu Sekeper – The Tallest Waterfall in Lombok

  • Location: North Lombok, near Santong Village
  • Entrance Fee: Free
  • Facilities: Limited; basic restrooms and small warungs at the trailhead
  • Difficulty to Reach: Very hard; requires a 5-6 hours return hike through very dense jungle & steep terrain

If you search online, only Olly Gaspar has documented the journey to Tiu Sekeper and he has recorded it as 110 m tall, making it the tallest waterfall on Lombok!

Reaching Tiu Sekeper is no small feat, requiring a tough 2-3 hour hike through rugged terrain, but the reward is spectacular. The towering waterfall crashes down from a 100+ meter cliff into a serene, untouched pool below, surrounded by dense vegetation and offering a raw, unspoiled beauty.

But for this waterfall, the journey itself is the adventure. You’ll need to be very experienced walking in remote jungle to find this one, as there is no marked trail.
