Rasymadi Lombok Foundation

Supporting Education & Community Growth With the Lombok Loop

The Lombok Loop isnโ€™t just an adventureโ€”itโ€™s a purpose-driven journey that directly supports local communities. With 10% of all tour income going to our cofounder Dayat’s Rasymadi Foundation, each loop helps fund English education for young students in Lombokโ€™s villages, build classrooms, and create jobs for local people.

About the Rasymadi Foundation

Founded in 2023, the Rasymadi Lombok Foundation is dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and teaching English to young students in small villages around Lombok. Dayat and his team currently operate four English classes in various villages, including Muslim and Hindu communities, to bridge educational gaps and support local youths.

Rasymadi’s Mission

The English Club provides daily school hours for children aged 7-18 who would otherwise have limited access to education. Beyond language skills, we aim to equip Lombok’s youth for the tourism sector by offering essential work experience, ultimately helping tackle high unemployment on the island.

The Story of the Rasymadi Foundation

The Rasymadi Foundation isnโ€™t just an educational program; itโ€™s a personal journey and vision started by Dayat and Hannah, whose passion for their communityโ€™s growth led them to create a bridge between travelers and young locals in Lombok.

What began as a humble English program, where Dayat would approach travelers to teach English in small village gatherings, has now grown into a foundation dedicated to empowering youth and creating opportunities. With three English clubsโ€”two in Muslim villages and one in the Hindu village where many travelers stayโ€”the foundation offers a place for local kids to connect, learn, and dream bigger.

The Story of the Lombok Loop

Dayat met Olly in 2018 at a pivotal time in this journey. Olly and his girlfriend, Haylea, had arrived in Lombok and volunteered to help teach English, even when classes were held in open fields with no formal classrooms. A lasting friendship was born from this experience, as they shared the same hope for the local kids to gain skills and confidence.

Olly and Haylea spent a few months in Lombok and fell in love with the island. After leaving, Olly published many travel guides to Lombok on his blog We Seek Travel, which gained lots of attention from adventure-hungry travelers looking to explore the raw and untouched parts of the island.

In 2023, Olly returned to Lombok, reuniting with Dayat and Hannah at a turning point for their vision. By now, the Rasymadi Foundation had become official, with regular volunteers helping build classrooms and teach English to the local kids. Yet, Dayat faced a challenge: he needed a sustainable way to draw more travelers into the community and fund the growing costs of running classes.

Together, Olly and Dayat set out to create something new, something that could offer an unforgettable experience while supporting the foundationโ€™s mission. They spent weeks crafting a dream motorcycle itinerary, mapping routes, and refining every detail. From this vision, the Lombok Loop was bornโ€”a tour designed to not only showcase the best of Lombokโ€™s landscapes but to channel its proceeds directly into the Rasymadi Foundation. Through the Lombok Loop, travelers would be able to connect with eager young locals, learn about their culture, and contribute to an education that would open doors for future employment and growth in Lombokโ€™s tourism industry.

Empowering, Educating, and Connecting

The Rasymadi Foundationโ€™s English Club provides daily classes for children aged 7-18, offering them opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. Beyond English language skills, the foundation opens the door to tourism-based careers, inspiring the next generation to dream beyond their island. By fostering relationships with travelers, students gain invaluable confidence and experiences that can help combat local challenges like unemployment.

A Community Impact

Through partnerships with locals, the foundation doesnโ€™t just teachโ€”it empowers. By creating jobs for homestay hosts, activity leaders, and coordinators, the foundation has woven itself into the communityโ€™s fabric. Travelers who join the Lombok Loop and stay with local families become part of this journey, sharing meals, learning Lombokโ€™s customs, and creating connections over cooking, DIY projects, and music.

This shared experience brings mutual growth and exchange, leaving lasting memories on both sides.

Supporting the Foundationโ€™s Vision

Each Lombok Loop traveler directly contributes to the Rasymadi Foundationโ€™s growth. Helpers who stay with associated homestays pay a small contribution, covering boarding and meals for the families they stay with. Donations and tour proceeds go further, funding books, school supplies, and improvements for English Club spaces. A current fundraiser supports building a new classroom in Adiโ€™s village, ensuring even more children gain access to this unique education experience.
