How to Visit Lombok’s Pink Beach (Pentai Tangsi)

Pink Beach Lombok, or Pantai Tangsi, is one of the island’s most unique and breathtaking beaches, known for its soft, blush-colored sand—a result of crushed coral blending with white sand. Located on Lombok’s southeastern coast, about 2.5 hours from Kuta Lombok , this secluded beach is less crowded than the famous Pink Beach in Komodo, making it a hidden gem worth exploring.

While we don’t visit this spot on the Lombok Loop due to its remote location far from our route, it’s an excellent addition to any traveler’s itinerary. If you’re looking for something truly unique and love discovering off-the-beaten-path destinations, here’s exactly what you need to know to visit Lombok’s Pink Beach yourself or on a tour.

Overview: What to Know About Lombok’s Pink Beach

Lombok’s Pink Beach is stunning but remote, which means you’ll need your own transport or a guided tour to get there. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Exact Location: Pink Beach is in Sekaroh Village on the Ekas Peninsula. Google Maps will get you there, but download the route in advance as cell service is very spotty in our experience.
  • Entry Fee: IDR 50,000 per person.
  • Best Time to Visit: High tide for the most vibrant pink hues, ideally mid-morning or late afternoon when the light highlights the sand’s color.
  • How to Get There:
    • Self-Drive: Rent a motorbike (IDR 100,000–150,000/day) or a car to drive the 1.5 hours from the main tourist town in Ekas or 2.5 hours from Kuta. Expect some bumpy dirt roads near the end.
    • Boat Tour: Join a boat trip that includes snorkeling and visiting nearby islands like Gili Petelu—an ideal option for those who prefer the sea route.
  • Facilities: Basic warungs sell drinks and snacks, but it’s best to bring your own water, sunscreen, and essentials.
  • Activities: Snorkel crystal-clear waters, explore nearby cliffs and caves, or simply relax on the pink-tinted sands.

How to Get to the Pink Beach

Getting to Pink Beach is straightforward and a fun adventure if you’re comfortable riding a motorbike. The road is in decent condition for most of the journey, with only a bumpy section near the end as you approach the beach.

However, it’s a long drive—about 2.5 hours from Kuta—so you should feel confident on a bike for extended trips. If riding isn’t your thing, booking a taxi or private driver is a better option.

We can help connect you with reputable and affordable drivers to help you get here or to other attractions in Lombok– just reach out, and we’ll make the arrangements for you!

If you’re set on driving yourself, here’s your self-drive directions:

From Kuta Lombok:

  • Start on Jl. Senkol and follow the main road east. This is the same route used to reach Tanjung Aan Beach and Bukit Marese.
  • Continue past Awang Bay along a mix of paved and dirt roads. Keep an eye out for signs toward Sekaroh Village, but don’t rely solely on them—Google Maps is your best guide.
  • After roughly 1.5 hours, the paved road ends, leading to a bumpy, rocky path through the Ekas Peninsula. The last 30 minutes of the drive can be slow, so take it easy to avoid damaging your motorbike or car.

Local Tip: Download offline Google Maps beforehand, as the signal can be weak on this route. Search for “Pink Beach” (not “Pantai Pink”) to ensure accurate navigation.

Arriving at the Pink Beach

As you approach Pink Beach, you’ll see a small checkpoint where the entrance fee is collected. Be ready with cash as digital payments are not accepted here.

The parking area is just a short walk from the beach. The final stretch is on uneven terrain, so sturdy shoes or sandals are recommended.

Once at the beach, you’ll notice the vivid pink hue of the sand, especially under the sun. The area is quiet and undeveloped, with minimal shade, so bring a hat or umbrella.

Facilities are basic, with a few small warungs offering snacks and drinks. There are no formal restrooms, so plan accordingly before arriving.

Swimming is safe in the shallow bay, but sharp coral near the edges of the beach means reef-safe water shoes are helpful.

What to Do At Lombok’s Pink Beach

Pink Beach offers plenty to enjoy, whether you’re here for relaxation or adventure. Start by soaking in the views—the surrounding cliffs provide excellent vantage points for photos. For the best shots, we recommend trying to get to the beach early in the morning or late afternoon when the angled sunlight makes the pink hues more vibrant.

If you have a drone, this is the perfect spot to capture the stunning coastline and nearby islands.

The water is clear and inviting, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. You’ll find healthy coral reefs around the headlands, teeming with marine life. However, be cautious—while the bay is usually calm, conditions can become rough during stormy weather.

Take time to explore the rocky cliffs on both sides of the beach. Hidden caves and natural jump spots add an adventurous element to your visit. Don’t forget to pack reef-safe sunscreen and water shoes to make the most of your day.
